PEER SUPPORT - HOW WE CAN HELP YOU

We have partnered with Athletica Physiotherapy Ltd who offer Cancer Rehabilitation Physiotherapy ; a specialist, comprehensive approach to improving the physical and functional wellbeing of individuals who have been affected by cancer. It is designed to address the unique challenges that female cancer patients and survivors face, including the physical and emotional effects of cancer and its treatments. 

Their services encompass a wide range of support and treatment, including:

•        Pain Management: We provide techniques to manage cancer-related pain, helping you find relief and improve your quality of life

•        Restoring Mobility: Our physiotherapists work with you to regain and enhance your physical capabilities, allowing you to move with confidence

•        Strength and Endurance Training: We offer targeted exercise programs that help you rebuild your strength and stamina, so you can engage in your daily activities and enjoy a more active lifestyle

•        Lymphedema Management: We specialise in the management of lymphedema, a common side effect of cancer treatment, to reduce swelling and improve your comfort

•        Balance and Coordination: We work to restore balance and coordination deficits that may have been caused in relation to treatment, surgery or periods of reduced activity

•        Emotional Support: We recognise the emotional toll that cancer can take, and our team is here to provide support and encouragement throughout your journey

•        Education and Empowerment: We ensure that you have the knowledge and tools to actively participate in your rehabilitation.

We will provide funding for our members to attend the initial assessment and the first weekly class on the understanding that the individual commits to fund at least 5 further classes themselves at £7 per class. 

We have had some great results so far.

Lorraine suffered with a stiff arm and shoulder with limited movement for years following her treatment. As a result of these classes she has improved the flexibility and strength in her arm which has helped her to continue to care for her Husband who has Dementia at home.
