Shopping for Lingerie following cancer related breast surgery can be a very different experience than women are used to.
There really is so much more to consider when purchasing lingerie than there was before surgery. Not only has the size and shape of the breasts been significantly altered, but the emotional turmoil that can accompany lingerie shopping, now that your body is forever changed, can be overwhelming, especially in the early days following treatment.
Trained bra fitters understand the emotional distress that can sometimes be experienced by their customers and can offer time, gentle support and reassurances. They understand the terminology often used, eliminating the need for long repetitive explanations. They understand how each type of surgery changes the body, where scars can cause discomfort and how bras fit differently following different kinds of surgery.

**It is also worth being aware that mastectomy bras and swimwear are VAT exempt so be sure to check that VAT is taken off these items at the till.

There is a small range of post surgery bras in the lingerie departments at both the Vanguard and Parliament Steet stores in York with a larger range online. All lingerie staff are trained in bra fitting and will be happy to help although you may want to call ahead to find when their specialist post surgery fitters are available.

The lingerie department in Browns stock Anita, Amena and Royce ranges. All staff are trained bra fitters and will do fittings, preferably by appointment and once a month an Anita rep comes into store to do fittings by appointment only, usually on a Friday morning.
