Q. When and At what point in your bc roller-coaster ride did you join BFY?
A. I started BFY just after my mastectomy back in April 2014 about 8 months after my diagnosis. I was really lucky to get some excellent face to face support but I knew others wouldn't be without a support group in York.
Q. Where did you hear about us?
A. In my own brain. Lol
Q. What have you gained from being a member of BFY?
A. BFY has been my own therapy and gave me purpose during my very complicated and extended treatment and recovery period. Its also given me some of my closest friends.
Q. What are your passions?
A. My friends, my family, my dog, elaborate breakfasts and anything dipped in chocolate.
Q. Words/phrase you live by.
A.Ruthlessly stolen from Kris Hellenga of Coppafeel! You can't polish a trud but you can roll it in glitter.
Q. Your favorite place in York?
A. The walk under the Willow trees along the river into town.
Q. What are you best known for?
A. Breaking anything electronic, I've even been known to break the interweb. 😜
Q. What advice would you give to newly diagnosed bc patients?
A. Surrounding yourself with people who have been there keeps everything in perspective.
What message do you want to send to the world about bc or cancer in general.
Unfortunately cancer is not going away any time soon so let's do what we can to protect ourselves. Know the signs and symptoms, be body aware, present changes or symptoms to the GP at the earliest opportunity, talk openly and freely about cancer, take up all screening invites and create healthy behaviour choices.
